I have never had success with a curling iron. But THIS thing is amazing. It adds just the bend at the end of the hair so as to not make it stick straight. Of course, you can make it straight as well. It heats up fast, glides through the hair. It is amazing, I bought one for my daughter and her college roommate wants one as well. I wouldn't want to be without it.

This product had been placed in the closet due to the fact that the first use was a sad experience. After locating it, now the truth of the first experience returns. The motor does not work properly at all. Its spins for few a seconds then stops. If the spinning were to continue, it would not be enough torque to file anything. As I look at other comments on this product, I'm sure Conair should be embarrassed on the quality of this product. It is no surprise that this product is no longer list in Conair's product list. The company should have placed a recall of the Elegant Nail kit.

I bought this thinking it would be nice to be able to give myself pedicures at home. It was meant to help me unwind, since doing something like this should also be kind of fun. I preface using it by soaking my feel in a relaxing heated foot bath, so my nails are softened up a bit before I use it. In spite of this, the unit simply does not have enough power even for basic maintenance. It takes a hours to recharge fully, so plan ahead before using it! And even with a full charge, it runs out of energy before you can use it on both feet. I've found that if I attempt to file and then buff my toenails it only lasts long enough for one foot, and then I have to recharge it again for hours before I can do the other one. Essentially, it takes a full day (or two separate days) to give myself a pedicure with this. While making it rechargeable (and not having to worry about a cord getting in the way) makes sense in theory, I would much rather deal with the minor annoyance of a cord instead of the major annoyance of a product that isn't up to the job! I shudder to think how ineffective it would be if I attempted to use it without using the foot spa first!Next time I'll try to find one that either plugs in or tells you in the item description how long it takes to recharge and how long it should hold the charge for! The only advantage to buying this one is that it was cheap, so at least I didn't waste too much money on it.

I have used this one time and put it away. The bits are so smooth, they don't work to sand or buff nails at all. The motor is ok but not very powerful. It just wasn't worth the money. Also, it took 11 days to ship and another several to arrive.

My daughter got this for Christmas - she saw it on TV and really wanted it. We finally got it out for a sleepover with a friend. It was definitely not worth it. The nails provided are tiny - I had two 7-year-olds and at least half the nails were too small for even their pinky fingers, and nothing was big enough for their thumbs. The adhesive stickers were not strong enough to hold the nails on. The glitter never really coated the nails very well, and it was a huge mess with glitter and gems all over the place. And I ask you, what fun is a manicure you have to take right off (instructions state not to sleep with the nails on)? My daughter's nails were falling off within minutes, so we didn't have to worry about sleeping with them on, anyway. Even given the terrible results I would have given it a higher rating if it had been fun to do, but it was mostly just frustrating for all of us.

This is junk. Don't bother. Its messy. Plan on glitter everywhere. The nails are too small for anything but a five year old. I purchased for a ten year old. I tried it once. I put it back in the box and will never use again. You are better off buying glitter nail polish and/or gems. What a disappointment! I never write reviews but, this was so bad I had to comment.....

What is it about kids getting sucked into the 'awesome' things they see on TV... guess it's called marketing and what we get for letting them watch Nick! Went through the same thing with "Floam" with older daughter at the same age. The daughter requesting this on her Santa list actually used the word "voila"! She didn't ask for much so we obliged. I am loving the idea of clear polish and the glitter from other reviewer. Will try that after the adhesives run out. I didn't like the fake nails so we put the glitter right on the adhesive. Just did one hand to see how holds up. Take off? What's up with that? CYA I suppose. This is something that would be great for a dress up party and special event, but the refil kit is $10 (Beauty supply store?). Not something for every day.. just for fun. My 6 yr. old thought it was really cool and thinks she's "Da Bomb" with one glittery hand. We also got "Pixos" and talk about a mess.....

Had the exact same problems Meg D. did. One further thing to add. This product comes with stick on gems. The way you attach them is extremely vague and misleading. Do you attach them to the false nails or the real nails with the adhesive tape? There is no adhesive on the gems (I think) so you can't stick them on the fake nails. Do you put them on the adhesive which attaches to the real nails? If so, that's a terrible idea. By the time you fight trying to take off the protective covering, the tape is wrinkled and covered with pieces of torn covering! This thing is garbage. I will never under any circumstance buy a Conair product again. Kudos to Amazon.com for shipping though. This item got to me a couple days earlier than I expected.

My daughter was really looking forward to receiving this for Christmas. I obliged since this seemed somewhat easy to use according to the commercial. What a complete mess this turned out to be!! The number of adhesive stickers are very minimal. They are also much too small and don't cover the entire area of the nails, even for my 8 yr old girl. This makes the glitter not cover the entire nail. The machine works by blowing the glitter onto the nail when you place your nail in the hole. After using it on only 2 nails, we could hear that the glitter was clogging up the air hole and causing the flow to slow. This caused the glitter not to come up and cover the nail. It would have been MUCH easier to just sprinkle glitter onto clear polished nails! The process of doing both hands is very time consuming and very, very messy. Glitter everywhere! Then, after spending all this time on this project, the instructions strongly suggest that you take the nails off before going to bed so as not to sleep with them. I suppose so that glitter doesn't get in your eyes. Ugh. Save your money and go to local drug store for cute polishes and nail stickers!
